WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CHURCH MEMBERS

We all know Donna Dunlap Brown who has recently transferred her membership to our church!

Donna comes to our church with many credentials...church and "in the world" as well. We hope that climate change keeps our summers cooler somehow so she'll be less likely to be in Maine quite so much. Sorry Rich, but I have to be honest 'bout that!!

It's also a pleasure to welcome two new members who not all of us know yet, Kathy Catania and George Elias.

Kathy is a retired educator who is quite an accomplished quilter and George is a retired electrician who is always a willing worker at the food pantry when they're in town. They travel between their home in Manorville and their mountain hideaway in Virginia! If you want to know about bears or joint replacements just ask George.

UMCOR SUNDAY

This year UMCOR Sunday is March 31. Any donations given in the special offering envelopes or with checks marked Umcor Sunday will be used to support the  administrative costs of  UMCOR ( the United Methodist Committee on Relief ). Any money given to UMCOR for the rest of the year whenever disasters strike is not spent on administrative costs but  goes 100% to aid in the vital humanitarian missions of the Committee all around the world. Please give as generously as you can.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER

This year's "host" country for the world day of prayer service was Slovenia. It's always interesting to learn of some of the history and culture of different peoples; Slovenia was created in 1991 after it fought for independence from the former Yugoslavia. The service touched on issues that are prevelent all over the world today and was very well attended. For those of you who were not there, Slovenian desserts are very good indeed! All are invited to join us next year at the Catholic church in Center Moriches. Next year the service will be created by women in Zimbabwe. Much thanks to Joy Preston for leading this year and to her husband Byron for his incredible keyboard skills.

FOOD PANTRY PATRONS THANK YOU

Our congregation is so generous! Aside from the cans of soup that people brought in for the pantry on Souper Bowl Sunday, cash donations totalling $56.75 were also collected. This will help pay for the next week's grocery lists for the pantry. What a wonderful way to show that we are trying to follow the actions of Jesus by feeding His sheep who are our brothers and sisters on this earth.

REFRESHMENT HOSTS NEEDED FOR FELLOWSHIP HOUR

Please check the sign up sheet on the big board after church  for your turn at hosting fellowship with a friend. Dishes that are vegetarian, suitable for diabetics & other specialties are noted. Coffee  is always decaf. Tea bags include: Regular, herbal, decaf & green. It is a great way to get to know others better!

Also, EVERYONE is welcome to help wth the worship service by doing some of the readings on Sunday morning or helping by being one of the ushers each month.

FOOD PANTRY HELP ALWAYS WELCOME

The WILLING WORKERS  welcome others to give food, clothing and other essentials to those in need each Wednesday from noon until 1 pm.. The pantry is located in back of the Bell AME Zion Church  on Railroad Ave. in Center Moriches.
